Designing the business of the future – Philipp Depiereux and Nils-Christoph Ebsen at Digisurance

01. February 2016

What is the sale of insurance going to look like in the future? Well-known greats in the insurance sector are meeting up with young startups to discuss this very question at Digisurance on February 5. Philipp Depiereux, Founder and CEO of etventure, and Nils-Christoph Ebsen, CEO of W&W Digital GmbH, introduced the mutual joint venture and initial business models such as Wüstenrot Wünschmieter.

The insurance sector is still struggling with the digitization of its business processes and the changing customer requirements. Although the digital transformation of the insurance business is a topic on everyone’s lips at the moment, there are still very few actual recommendations for action. Digisurance wants to change this. Under the motto “Designing the business of the future”, the two event organizers, the software startup flexperto and Munich Re, one of the world’s leading re-insurance companies, are bringing representatives from startups together with established companies. Solutions and pitfalls on the way to the insurance service provider of the future as well as the opportunities for collaboration between startups and insurers will be presented in workshops and presentations with practical examples.

etventure is also involved in the event. Philipp Depiereux and Nils-Christoph Ebsen will present W&W Digital GmbH, a joint venture between etventure and the financial service provider Wüstenrot & Württembergische founded in November 2015. They will explain the typical etventure approach using the example of W&W Digital GmbH: Together with the customer, etventure designs a new digital business with a highly entrepreneurial approach. In the process, the focus is always on customer-centered, radical result-oriented execution. W&W Digital GmbH aims to set up new and independent business models in the areas of PropTech, FinTech and InsurTech which simultaneously also rely on the core business of Wüstenrot & Württembergische. The term PropTech stands for property technology and has to do with technologies connected with the real estate sector. The same applies in the case of FinTech for the financial sector and in the case of InsurTech for the insurance sector.

The inaugural project of W&W Digital GmbH in the form of the Wüstenrot Wunschmieter – an online platform which is digitizing the brokerage service – was launched at the end of 2015.  The launch of the second digital business model for the real estate sector is due to take place any day now. The media have already started to take notice of W&W Digital GmbH: Thus, the dpa, Focus Online and Die Welt, among others, reported on the collaboration.

In addition to etventure, companies such as RWE, IBM, Helvetia and Generali were also represented at Digisurance. More information on the event can be found here.
