21. August 2015

Imagine being locked in a dark room, only 45min to ‘escape’ while using digital technologies. Volkswagen, a german autobile frabricaters employees have to face this challenge since the 29th July 2015.  Based on the concept of an Escape Room, etventure-daughter Berlin School of Digital Business constructed a Digital Escape Room for VW.  With this parkour, VW wanted to give their employees a deeper understanding of digitization and its consequences.

The Berlin School of Digital Business constructed the Digital Escape Room directly on VWs industrial site near Wolfsburg, where employees are playfully and intuitively guided towards new technologies and the virtual world. Participants can expect a variety of new technologies, including drones, virtual and augmented reality glasses and indoor navigation using beacon technologies. Groups consisting of 5 to 7 people have 45min to complete the given digital tasks, in order to receive a key, allowing them to exit the room.

The Digital Escape Room is part of a campaign to inform VW employees about and acquaint them with the current use of digital technologies as well as digitization trends. For the campaign, VW is developing around 200 different offers to facilitate active engagement and interaction with digitization.

“We wanted to combine the newest technologies with a ‘serious game concept,’ making digitization something that can be experienced. We surprise employees with a variety of technologies and show them the opportunities that digitization offers,” explains Dr. Birte Gall, Founder and Managing Director of Berlin School of Digital Business

This autumn the Digital Escape Room will travel across Germany to the other VW-locations.
